Decarbon Logistics Solutions (DLS), a Volofleet portfolio company, has officially launched its latest micro consolidation hub in collaboration with Cross River Partnership. This initiative is part of a six-month trial for micro logistics hubs located in the Southside Shopping Centre Car Park in the London Borough of Wandsworth.
The trial is funded by Defra in partnership with the London Borough of Wandsworth and aims to facilitate low-emission last-mile deliveries in Wandsworth and its neighbouring areas. This initiative is supported by CRP’s Clean Air Logistics for London and Smarter Greener Logistics programs, with deliveries also extending to the London Boroughs of Richmond upon Thames and Merton.
DLS played a key role in identifying and qualifying suitable locations fit for the last-mile delivery operations. The team collaborated with APCOA Parking (UK) Limited to identify available capacity within the APCOA managed car park and determine an appropriate location for the hub. Responsibilities also included the design and construction of the 911 sqft hub, which features a secure private compound, installed electrical systems, and additional lighting. DLS successfully obtained the required planning permissions and necessary consents for the project and will oversee the hub’s management on behalf of the landlord and operator, both during the pilot period and beyond.
This hub is equipped for various last-mile delivery services, including e-cargo bike parking and charging, cross-docking, e-fulfillment, and dynamic storage. Deliveries will be conducted by low-emission courier Delivery Mates and are set to commence soon!
